Hot Takes is the simplest social game we make. Someone throws out an opinion, everyone votes agree or disagree, the split lands live on screen. The disagreement is the point. Once the room sees that 60% disagreed with the boss on a workplace question, the conversation runs itself. Players join from their phones with a QR code (no app, no signup), votes are anonymous by default, and a single round takes 90 seconds.
How to play
- 1
Pick or write a hot take
Use one of our built-in packs (work, party, classroom) or write your own. A good hot take is opinion-based, low-stakes, and splits the room. Not "the sky is blue" and not "war is bad."
- 2
Show the QR code
Players scan with their phone camera. They name themselves, that is it.
- 3
Vote agree or disagree
Each player taps one of two buttons on their phone. The big screen shows a live tally with bars filling in real time as votes land.
- 4
Discuss the split
The most interesting part. The host calls on the minority side first ("Three of you disagreed. Who wants to defend it?") and a real conversation starts.
Example prompts
- Standups should be 5 minutes, not 15.
- Pineapple on pizza is fine.
- Open offices killed productivity.
- AI will replace product managers within 5 years.
- Working from home is better than the office, full stop.
Hot Takes works great for…
Icebreaker Games for Team Meetings
Your team is tired of "go around and share a fun fact." Show a QR code instead. They play on their phones, results hit the big screen. Takes 5 minutes, not 20.
Party Games on Any Screen. No App Needed.
Pull up a URL on your TV. Show the QR code. Everyone scans and plays on their phones. No console, no game purchase, no "who has the controller?"
Virtual Icebreaker Games That Actually Work
Screen-share the game. Team scans the QR code or clicks the link. Works on any video call platform. No plugins, no "can everyone install this real quick?"
Engagement Games for All-Hands & Company Meetings
All-hands meetings are where engagement goes to die. Break up the slide deck with a live game. QR code on the projector, everyone plays on their phone, results on the big screen.
