Icebreaker Games for Team Meetings
Your team is tired of "go around and share a fun fact." Show a QR code instead. They play on their phones, results hit the big screen. Takes 5 minutes, not 20.
Most team-meeting icebreakers fail for the same reason. They make the same two extroverts do the work while everyone else stares at their notifications. ImprovApp flips that. The host shows a QR code, the team scans it from their phones, and answers come back live on the shared screen. Anonymous if you want, attributed if you want. Whole thing runs in 5 minutes, fits before any agenda, works in a conference room or on Zoom.
Sound familiar?
Awkward silence before the agenda
Everyone stares at their laptop waiting for the meeting to actually start. Nobody wants to go first.
Same two people talk every time
The rest of the team checks out. Your "icebreaker" is really just a conversation between you and Dave.
Icebreakers that make everyone groan
"Two truths and a lie" stopped being fun in 2014. Your team deserves an icebreaker that isn't cringe.
How it works
No downloads, no signups
Show a QR code. People scan it with their phone camera and they're in. That's it. No app store, no accounts.
5-minute warm-ups
Run a quick Hot Takes round or Would You Rather before the agenda. Gets everyone talking without eating into real meeting time.
$9/month flat
Unlimited sessions, up to 50 players. Not $19/user/month like the other guys. One price, whole team.

Hot Takes
Throw out an opinion. Watch the room pick sides.
Hot Takes is the single best meeting opener we have. The host posts a workplace-appropriate hot take ("standups should be 5 minutes, not 15") and the team votes agree/disagree on their phones. The split shows up on the big screen and you spend 60 seconds discussing the disagreements. It works because everyone has an opinion on something low-stakes, and the anonymous voting makes it safe to disagree with your boss.
Learn how to run it →Would You Rather
Two options, one choice. Debate guaranteed.
Would You Rather forces a binary choice. The explaining-yourself part is where the real conversation happens. Pick prompts that are silly enough to stay light ("would you rather always have to use a 5-minute meeting timer or never have an agenda again?") but real enough to spark opinions. Three rounds, two minutes total, and you have warmed up every voice in the room.
Learn how to run it →Word Cloud
Everyone submits a word. Cloud builds live on screen.
Word Cloud is your move when you actually want to learn something. How the team is doing, what is on their minds, what one word describes Q3. Each person submits one word from their phone, the cloud builds live, and the most common words grow biggest. Great as a pulse check at the start of monthly meetings.

- 1
Pick a game in advance
Open ImprovApp before the meeting and pick one or two games. Hot Takes is the safe bet for any team. Word Cloud is best when you want a quick pulse check.
- 2
Share the QR code
When the meeting starts, share your screen on the host view. The QR code and 4-character room code are visible automatically.
- 3
Wait 30 seconds for joins
Tell the team to scan with their phone camera. You will see avatars appear as people join. Wait until everyone is in.
- 4
Run one round
Click start. Each round is 60 to 90 seconds. Long enough for everyone to answer, short enough to stay snappy.
- 5
Read the results, then move on
Spend 60 seconds reading the funniest answers aloud. Then transition: "Alright, agenda item one…" The whole bit is under 5 minutes.
