Caption Contest gets the most laughs per minute of anything we ship. The host shows a weird, surprising, or industry-specific image on the big screen. Players have 60 seconds to type a caption on their phone. Then everyone votes on the funniest, and the winner gets read aloud. The losing captions are usually as funny as the winners. That is why the energy stays high every round.
How to play
- 1
Show a strange image
Pick from our built-in image packs (general, work, classroom-safe) or upload your own. The weirder the better. The image is the setup.
- 2
Players type captions on their phones
60-second timer. One caption per player. Players see the image on the big screen and type into their phone.
- 3
Everyone votes anonymously
The big screen shows all captions stripped of attribution. Each player picks their favorite (cannot vote for their own).
- 4
Reveal the winner
Top vote-getter wins. The host reads the winning caption aloud, and that is when the laughs land.
Example prompts
- A photo of a dog in a tiny suit.
- A black-and-white photo from 1920 with people doing something inexplicable.
- Two cats staring at a third cat.
- A bizarre stock photo of a businessman shaking hands with a tree.
- An over-the-top motivational poster image.
Caption Contest works great for…
Party Games on Any Screen. No App Needed.
Pull up a URL on your TV. Show the QR code. Everyone scans and plays on their phones. No console, no game purchase, no "who has the controller?"
Interactive Games for Live Events & Conferences
Your audience is checking their phones anyway. Give them something to do with them. Show a QR code, they scan and play. Results on the big screen, live.
Engagement Games for All-Hands & Company Meetings
All-hands meetings are where engagement goes to die. Break up the slide deck with a live game. QR code on the projector, everyone plays on their phone, results on the big screen.
Classroom Games Students Actually Enjoy
Kahoot is fine for quizzes. But when you want real engagement, you need more than multiple choice. Caption Contest and Hot Takes keep energy up when trivia runs out of steam.
