The Imposter is a social deduction game that runs on phones with no setup. Every player except one gets the same secret word on their phone. The Imposter sees only that they are the imposter. They have to bluff their way through the round. Each player gives a one-word clue out loud, the Imposter has to fake it convincingly enough to not get caught, and at the end of the round everyone votes on who they think the Imposter is. Plays well in person and over video calls.

How to play

    Get a secret word on your phone

    When the round starts, every player's phone shows the secret word. Except one, whose phone says "You are the Imposter."

  2. 2

    Take turns giving one-word clues

    Going around the room, each player says one word that relates to the secret. The Imposter has to bluff a clue without knowing the word.

    Discuss who the Imposter is

    After clues, the room discusses out loud. Whose clue felt off? Who hesitated? Whose clue was suspiciously generic?

  4. 4

    Vote on your phone

    Each player votes on the suspected Imposter. If the room finds them, the room wins. If the Imposter survives, they win.
